Mayoral candidates will have a chance to spar against one another.

The Thunder Bay Public Library will be playing host to the Mayoral Debates on Oct. 12 at the Waverly location.

It will be structured as a formal debate with the library’s CEO, Dr. Richard Togman moderating.

The library will also host other ward debates, including a debate session for At Large candidates that has 24 names registered for the municipal election.

A meet & greet with candidates is scheduled, as well as a Q&A session. However, for the At Large candidates since there are so many names entered, it will be more of a chance to familiarize with the candidates and their campaigns versus a traditional debate.

Current dates and times of debates are as follows:

  • Monday, October 3 at 6:30 pm @ Mary J.L. Black(901 Edward St. S.) – Neebing & Westfort Candidates
  • Tuesday, October 4 at 6:30 pm @ Mary J.L. Black (901 Edward St. S.) – Northwood & McKellar Candidates
  • Wednesday, October 5 at 6:30 pm @ Waverley(285 Red River Road) – Current River, McIntyre & Red River Candidates
  • Thursday, October 6 at 6 pm @ Brodie(216 S. Brodie St.) – At Large Candidates
  • Wednesday, October 12 at 6:30 pm @ Waverley(285 Red River Rd.) – Mayoral Candidates Debate

For those unable to attend in person, the events will be live streamed and available on the Library’s website and YouTube channel.
