Atlantic Canadian employers expect a prosperous hiring climate for the fourth quarter of 2022.

That is according to the latest Employment Outlook Survey released by ManpowerGroup last week.

Nearly half of Atlantic Canadian employers (49 per cent) plan to hire, which is above the national average of 45 per cent.

One in six employers (17 per cent) anticipate cutbacks, compared to 13 per cent nationally, while one-third plan to maintain current staffing levels.

“Canadians continue to experience a steady period of healthy employment opportunity,” said Darlene Minatel, Country Manager of ManpowerGroup Canada.

“Survey results support the notion that employers and job seekers are making the adjustment to changing work dynamics brought on by the workplace upheaval of the pandemic.”

Employers in most regions of the country and all industry sectors surveyed expect to add to payrolls next quarter, according to the survey.

With seasonal variations removed from the data, Atlantic Canada’s fourth quarter Net Employment Outlook of +36% is a 11-percentage point increase from the previous quarterly Outlook and a 13-percentage point decrease from the Outlook reported in the same time period last year.

“This indicates a robust hiring pace for the upcoming months,” said Mindy Stoltz of ManpowerGroup’s Saint John office.
