UPDATE: Police Locate Vehicle, Bikes Still Missing After Break-In

By Brad Perry Sep 16, 2022 | 3:06 PM

Saint John Police have seized a vehicle at the centre of a break-and-enter investigation.

But investigators are still trying to find two bicycles that were stolen during the incident.

Officers responded to a break-in at a business on Thorne Avenue shortly after 1 a.m. Monday.

Two new bicycles were stolen: a black and chrome Norco Optic C AXS M29, and a green and copper Norco Shore A Park M27.

Police say a car was spotted on Crown Street with its engine running, and when an officer approached on foot, the vehicle started to drive toward them without stopping.

The officer was hit by the vehicle’s side view mirror while trying to get out of the way but was not hurt.

Police pursued the red 2013 Ford Focus on Route 1 eastbound, but stopped the pursuit near the Fox Farm Road exit and notified neighbouring police agencies.

The car was last seen near the Kingston Peninsula, where police say it also failed to stop for officers.

In an update on Friday, police said the vehicle was found abandoned on the Kingston Peninsula on Wednesday and was seized by investigators.

Anyone with information is asked to call Saint John Police at 506-648-3333 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
