Ontario Provincial Police are warning of a fraud trend taking place on social media platforms across North America.
Police have received several calls of people being befriended on social media platforms such as Instagram.

Once the pictures are exchanged, the person then threatens to share them with all their contacts and family members if money is not e-transferred.
The Provincial Police note in some cases, thousands of dollars have been given, but the suspects will not stop until the victim is exhausted of money.
OPP say don’t give any money, report the person on the social media site and call police.
