Street hockey will shut-down Main Street in Yarmouth on October 1st.

It’s for the JStrong Cup, making its return for the first time since 2019.

Organizer Steve Berry says it follows up successful softball and golf tournaments over the summer.

“This is the one that the kids actually participate in. Downtown Main Street will be shut-down, there will be a lot of people walking around, a good throwback to the normalcy that we’re all missing,” says Berry.

The JStrong Foundation raised over $60,000 this summer to help youth in Yarmouth County access sport.

“One hundred percent of that goes back into our community to support the kids. Our funds are replenished and we couldn’t thank the community enough. We’re looking forward to a good fall and a good event.”

Berry says this tournament is free for everyone to participate in.

The event will go all day October 1st, then the finals move to the ball-hockey arena at Mariners Centre on October 2nd.
