Police arrest 31-year-old in Stay murder case

Police in Halifax have a man in custody in the homicide of acclaimed battle-rapper Pat Stay.

At approximately 12:35 a.m. on September 4, officers located a man who had been stabbed at the Yacht Club Social on Lower Water Street in Halifax.

The man was taken to hospital where he later died of his injuries.

The Medical Examiner identified the victim as 36-year-old Patrick Wayne Stay of Dartmouth.

On Saturday, investigators arrested a 31-year-old man in relation his death. Police say a further update will be provided when available. No charges have been laid.

Investigators turned to the public for help in tracking down a cell phone that may have been connected to the murder in an update on Friday.

The arrest comes as a celebration is planned for Stay at seven pubs in downtown Dartmouth on Sunday evening.

Stay’s death has been covered by TMZ and CNN and has touched the lives of Drake, Eminem, Classified and Maestro. They each sent out tributes and mourned his death.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking anyone with information about Patrick’s murder to call police at 902-490-5020.
