The Department of Fisheries and Oceans has made arrests and seizures in St. Mary’s Bay.
DFO tells our newsroom that following a vessel inspection near Saulnierville on August 31 fishery officers arrested, and later released, five people and seized 261 lobster from four traps and three and a half crates.
The lobster were released live back into the ocean according to DFO.
No other information has been released at this time, as DFO says the incident is part of an ongoing investigation of Fisheries Act violations.
