In major league baseball on Monday, the Toronto Blue Jays took both ends of a doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles, winning 7-3 and 8-4.

Bo Bichette hit three homers in the second game while driving in five runs.

The wins moved the Jays 4.5 game up on the Orioles for the third and final wild card spot in the American League.

The Minnesota Twins lost to the Yankees 5-2.

Aaron Judge hit homer number 54 in the game.

Combined with Cleveland’s 6-5 10-inning win over Kansas City, the Twins fell one back of the Guardians for first in the AL Central and are now 6.5 games back of the Jays in the wild card race.

Tampa Bay edged Boston 4-3.

Milwaukee got by Colorado 6-4

Washington shutout St. Louis 6-0.

Arizona blanked San Diego 5-0.

The White Sox trimmed Seattle 3-2.

Houston won a 1-0 game over Texas.

The Angels pounded Detroit 10-0.Tigers – Angels

It was San Francisco getting by the Dodgers 7-4.

The Mets-Pirates game was postponed due to rain and will be made up on Wednesday.

In the CFL, Brendan Banks scored a pair of touchdowns as the Toronto Argonauts defeated the Hamilton Tigers Cats 28-8.

It is the Argos’ first Labour day win since 2012.

The win also pushed Toronto over the .500 mark as they remain first in the East.

Reggie Begelton caught a pair of touchdown passes in helping the Calgary Stampeders to a 26-18 win over the Edmonton Elks.

Calgary now has sole possession of third place in the west, two points ahead of the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Rafel Dadal is out at the U.S. Open.

He lost three-set to one to number 22 ranked Frances Tiafoe

Other ranked players to advance to the quarter-finals were number 9 Andrey Rublev and the number 11th seed, Jannik Sinner

On the women’s side, number one seed Iga Swiatek, number 8 Jessica Pegula, the sixth-ranked Aryna Sabalenka and number 22 Karolina Pliskova advanced.
