Staffing shortages are causing temporary service disruptions for Halifax Transit ferry service.

Beginning Monday, August 29 and effective for a minimum of two weeks, Alderney Ferry service will be reduced to 30-minute service beginning at 2 p.m.

On weekdays, Alderney Ferry will have regular 30-minute service from 6:30 to 7 a.m., 15-minute service from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., and will be reduced to 30-minute service from 2 to11:30 p.m.

Woodside Ferry service is not expected to be impacted at this time, and it will run on its regular weekday schedule.

A detailed ferry schedule and the full list of cancelled conventional bus trips can be found on the city website.

The cancellation of some bus trips, as well as the reduced ferry service is done to provide more certainty to passengers and allow them to plan in light of the current staffing issues.

Halifax Transit is currently running a Bus Operator recruitment campaign to increase staffing resources and resume regular operations as soon as possible. Halifax Transit is also beginning recruitment for ferry crew.
