COVID is showing a rise in the Northwestern Health Unit’s catchment area.

The health unit reports 184 cases confirmed through PCR testing, up 39 since last week.

The test positivity rate has increased to 21.5% from 15.6% last week.

There are 19 cases in the Rainy River district, with 9 in the Fort Frances area, eight in Atikokan and two in the far west end of the district.

The Centre for Disease Control also rates the chance of contracting COVID-19 in Minnesota’s Koochiching County as high.

There have been 28 new cases in the past week,

That is out of the 160 tests performed.

The positive rate is at 16.25%, an increase of 2.5% from last week.

Less than 60% of the County’s population has been fully vaccinated.

It is just under 63% with just a single dose. This includes residents vaccinated with the single dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
