Efforts are being made to connect investors and entrepreneurs in northern Ontario.

Northern Angels says it’s working in communities across the region.

Ian Lane is executive director and says they’ve been very successful so far.

“We’re really, really good, and we are the number one Angel network in Canada and one of the top ones in North America because we look at different things and because we are a true network across our seven chapter communities,” boasts Lane.

Lane started with the Northern Angels in January and, because of COVID, is just now able to tour the region and says part of his job right now is to be better known in the communities they serve.

“Northern Ontario Angels have been around since 2005, and I think there is work to be done in our chapter communities around who we are, what services we offer and where we can partner with our stakeholders and partners in our eco-system.”

Lane says they are working with the Northwest Innovation Center and the Northwest Business Center to identify entrepreneurs that need investment help.

He points out that investors are not only looking to turn a profit but want to create jobs and help communities in northern Ontario.
