A Moncton man suffered what are believed to be serious, life-threatening injuries in a hit and run involving a cyclist.

Around 11 a.m. on Sunday, Codiac RCMP were called to a collision at the intersection of Morton Avenue and Mascaret Street where police believe a car was passing two cyclists and struck one of them.

The driver fled the scene.

The 26-year-old cyclist was taken to hospital.

On Tuesday afternoon, Codiac RCMP said a vehicle of interest had been identified and thanked the public for their help.

Police had released surveillance photos of the car in hopes someone recognized the vehicle.

Anyone who saw the incident or who has more information is urged to contact Codiac RCMP at 506-857-2400.

Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), by downloading the secure P3 Mobile App, or by Secure Web Tips at www.crimenb.ca
