Jacks still in need of billets as season draws near

The South Shore Lumberjacks are still in need of billet hosts for this upcoming season.

Yolanda King who oversees the Jacks billeting program says that as of now they have no billeting hosts for the upcoming training camp which is set to begin on August 28 and runs for two weeks. They are looking for 10 hosts for the training camp period.

The Jacks are appealing to the community for short-term hosts to billet players for the camp and are suggesting it may be an ideal option for families who previously enjoyed billeting players but may no longer be able to commit to hosting a player for the whole season.

As for the regular season and season-long billets, the Jacks are in need in that department as well. King says they are looking to secure around four to five hosts that can commit to housing a player from August 2022 to May 2023, (April if the Jacks fail to make the playoffs).

With the Jacks season fast approaching they are open to finding unique solutions but King says ideally hosts would be able to provide the billets with their own bathroom and a reasonably sized bed, as most of the players are large.

Billet hosts receive a stipend to offset the costs of hosting a young hockey player.

Anyone interested in becoming a billet host is asked to contact King via email or by calling (902) 759-8157.
