RCMP are searching for a transport truck that fled the scene after hitting the open door of a pulled over car on Highway 101 in Smith’s Cove.

Police responded to a call just before 10 p.m. on Aug.19 of hit and run between exits 24 and 25. The driver of a Dodge Grand Caravan pulled over and got out to switch positions with the passenger, when the transport truck hit the door

The driver of the truck may not have even realized they had hit the vehicle, police said in a release.

They said there may be damage to the passenger side of the transport and/or trailer, with possible red paint transfer.

The highway was closed for just under two hours. The Smith’s Cove Volunteer Fire Department assisted RCMP members at the scene with first aid and traffic control.

Digby RCMP are looking for information from anyone who may’ve witnessed the hit-and-run. Those with information to share can call 902-245-2579 or submit an anonymous tip through Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers.
