A Halifax based navy shift was forced to come back home after running into mechanical problems.

HMCS Harry DeWolf was on its way to a two month mission to the Arctic when it happened.

According to the Royal Canadian Navy, the vessel suffered a failure in one of its four main diesel generators.

The ship left Halifax on August 15.

All of the crew are safe and repair work will take place when they return.
