Football returns for the Fort Frances Muskies.

First practices will be next week, beginning Monday at 6 p.m. at Muskie Field.

This will continue on weekdays until September 2, with nightly team meetings to follow.

When school resumes on September 6, practices will go from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

There will be an equipment fitting on Sunday at the high school from 11 a.m to 5 p.m.

Players are asked to follow the Muskies Instagram page to book an appointment time.

You will have to enter the school through the doors on the west side.

Players are asked to wear a t-shirt and athletic shorts for their appointment.

Returning players must also bring their 2021 playbook binders.

Those unavailable on Sunday will be fitted for equipment when they attend practice.

The team will take part in a pre-season jamboree in Kenora on August 31.

The Muskies play their first regular season game on September 9, a home game against the Dryden Eagles.

The Muskies are returning to the Winnipeg High School Football League after winning a NorWOSSA title last year, organized due to travel restrictions caused by the pandemic.

Head Coach Lou Gauthier is expecting at least twenty returning players.

The team did lose 17 of 24 starters from last season to graduation.

Joining Gauthier on the sidelines this year will be Offensive Coordinator Vic Davis, Assistant Coaches Greg Allan, Colten Allen, Graham Anderson, Matt Armstrong, Shane Beckett, Scott Fawcett, and Jesse Marschalk.
