The city of International Falls is keeping its City Beach closed for the rest of this year.

The beach was impacted by this summer’s flooding,

Street and Water Commissioner Ted Brokaw says the beach is okay, but there is material that has been contaminated with other soils and needs to be removed.

“Kind of a delicate balance of hauling it all out, bringing new stuff in. The new playground that we put in there, the certified mulch, all has got to go,” says Brokaw.

Brokaw says the campgrounds appear to be okay.

Sections of the parking lot will have to be repaired.
