Organization of Terry Fox Run Goes Ahead

By Randy Thoms Aug 17, 2022 | 10:30 AM

The Terry Fox Run will proceed as planned in Fort Frances.

The Fort Frances Volunteer Bureau, headed by Bill Michl, has agreed to take the lead.

He says he would like more volunteer support for the September 18 event.

“I’m just looking for volunteers. We need people at the registration, and we probably need people along the walkway, just to make sure everybody’s okay with the walk. Maybe hand out water bottles halfway or something like that and put up posters,” says Michl.

Michl was hoping to hand off the run to someone else to manage this year.

When the Terry Fox Foundation came calling, Michl decided to step forward.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, September 18.

The waterfront is expected to be the focal point for the walk that helps raise awareness and money for cancer research.

People wanting to participate can register for the run online.

If you can help during or before the event, call Bill at 276-1334.

Since 1993, Fort Frances has hosted an annual Terry Fox Run and contributed over $237,000 to cancer research.
