N.B. Photographer Earns National Recognition

By Brad Perry Aug 16, 2022 | 10:38 AM

A breathtaking image from a New Brunswick photographer has earned him national recognition.

Brad Perry of Fredericton (no relation to this article’s author) is the 2022 winner of SkyNews Magazine’s Readers’ Choice Award.

“Sending out large thank yous and high fives to all who took the time to vote for and share this last month,” Perry said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

“Photographing the night sky brings me continued joy and this show of support means a lot.”

People had the chance to vote for their favourite of 51 photos during a one-week period last month.

Perry submitted a composite image of the moon climbing over Saint Andrews Harbour on May 21.

The sequence is comprised of 74 photos captured in 15-second intervals between 2:11 and 2:29 a.m.

A final longer exposure was captured to be used as a base image, then all 75 photos were combined in Photoshop.

Perry’s image was selected as SkyNews Magazine’s Photo of the Week on June 2.

In addition to the national recognition, Perry will receive an iOptron SkyGuider Pro Camera Mount.
