Premier Doug Ford is still taking a light-hearted approach to swallowing a bee last week.

It happened Friday in the midst of a media conference while responding to questions about the health care workers shortage critic.

As he stepped onto the stage to address delegates attending the Association of Municipalities of Ontario in Ottawa on Monday, the Premier started coughing before displaying a toy bee to the crowd.

“He’s been hanging around for a while,” joked the Premier. “At least twice the size that he came in at.”

He told delegates he has heard all of the bee jokes since and some conspiracy theories, including the bee being a small drone.

“One mayor calls me up and said, you know something, Doug? You got to be careful. Those opposition bee drones, now. They’re coming around. Something went down the hatch. I could just picture this going on. The guy controlling the drone, he’s probably sitting back and thinking, oh, man, you really messed up. There’s $100,000 drone in the premier stomach there,” said the Premier.

He also remarked about some of the media questions he would have to face now.
