National Acadian Day Celebrations In Saint John

Monday is National Acadian Day, or Le Quinze Août, a day for Acadians to celebrate their culture and heritage with activities planned for the whole family.

Place Fort La Tour and L’ARCf de Saint-Jean are organizing several events throughout the day.

It all begins at noon on Monday with a flag-raising ceremony outside of City Hall.

Place Fort La Tour will have activities from noon to 5 p.m., including a bread-making demonstration (1 to 4 p.m.), student interpretations, and a video detailing the history of Fort La Tour and the development of Saint John.

Mass will take place at Saint-François-de-Sales church on Ragged Point Road at 5:30 p.m.

A car Tintamarre will leave from Samuel-de-Champlain at 6:45 p.m. and continue to the Smythe Street parking lot.

The day will wrap up with a performance by Le Winston Band at Fort La Tour at 7:30 p.m.
