Mounties said they stopped a car at the checkpoint location on Main Street around 1:30 a.m. Friday.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested at the scene on several outstanding warrants, according to police.

RCMP said officers seized a loaded .22 calibre handgun, cash, and what are believed to be methamphetamine pills.

The vehicle and the license plate were also seized as they were determined to be stolen, said police.

Teare-Kotsabasakis appeared in Moncton Provincial Court on Friday by way of tele-remand. He was remanded into custody and has a bail hearing set for Tuesday.
