UPDATED: Standoff Suspect Arrested In City’s 9th Murder Case

An update has been provided by Thunder Bay Police regarding the standoff situation that occurred overnight on Thursday Aug. 11 to the morning of Aug 12.

The suspect that was arrested at the end of the long eight hour standoff is believed to be involved in the city’s ninth homicide on McMillan Street

A 32 year old Thunder Bay man has been arrested in connection to the death of 37 year old Charlie Finlayson also from Thunder Bay.

Police were responding to a weapons call on Friday July 29 along McMillan St when officers found the body of the decedent.

The investigation continues.

A standoff between a man and Thunder Bay Police has ended.

Officers set up a command post near a home on Cumberland St north late Thursday night. Investigators had learned that a male within the home was wanted on warrants.

The individual barricaded himself inside the residence until 8:30am Friday morning.

Police arrested the man as well as a female suspect.

This is a developing situation, more information will be provided as it becomes available.
