Schreiner Ready For New Session

By Randy Thoms Aug 9, 2022 | 9:23 AM

Green Party leader Mike Schreiner says it is time MPPs get to work.

They will hear the Throne Speech today.

Mike Schreiner says it is incumbent that everyone works together.

“I think it’s incumbent on the government to work across party lines and to listen to voices like ours who have been putting forward solutions, especially when it comes to the immediate need to address the health human resource crisis that we’re facing,” says Schreiner.

Health care and affordability are expected to be the big topics of discussion in the rare summer sitting of the legislature.

The Green Party leader adds his voice to repealing Bill 124.

Schreiner says nurses and other healthcare workers impacted by the wage-restricting legislation deserve a fair wage.

“The bottom line is one per cent cap on wages and benefits, when inflation is at over 8%, is a pay cut to frontline healthcare heroes who are overworked, underpaid and underappreciated by this government,” says Schreiner.

Schreiner is also repeating his call for a doubling of Ontario Disability Support Program rates and an investment in affordable housing.
