It was a busy August weekend for members of the Saint John Police Force.

On Friday, at around 4:45 p.m., city police were called to Bridge Road for a person in distress.

While officers were speaking with a 20-year-old woman, she allegedly threw a cell phone that struck an officer in the face.

The officer received a minor fracture to his nose. He was treated in the hospital and later released.

The woman was arrested and later released from custody with a court date of Oct. 11.

Later on Friday, at around 10:15 p.m., officers responded to a report of a robbery at a bank machine at Brunswick Square, located at 39 King Street.

Police said a 42-year-old man had withdrawn money from an ATM when he was approached from behind by another man who tried to steal the money.

There was a struggle and the suspect assaulted the victim with a weapon while stealing the money.

Investigators are looking for a man who was wearing dark clothing, a sweater, and a hat. Police said the victim was not hurt.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, at around 8:13 a.m., officers responded to a medical assistance call for a man who was lying on a sidewalk on Charles Street West.

It was reported that the man was uninjured, refused medical treatment, and left the area.

Police later learned that he provided a false name, and upon further investigation, the 36-year-old was later located at a residence on Collins Street and arrested on two outstanding warrants.

The suspect was also allegedly found to be in possession of a substance believed to be crystal meth.

The outstanding warrants were issued after the accused allegedly failed to attend court on outstanding charges of assault, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of methamphetamine, and breach of a court order.

The accused was held in custody to appear in court.
