Several organizations that serve the homeless are pleading for a peaceful path forward when it comes to Meagher Park.
The Halifax Regional Municipality issued a statement on Thursday, calling for police action to remove people who have been sleeping at the park.
In a joint-statement Friday by 14 homeless advocacy groups, they say the people at the park need to be involved in the relocation.
The groups made a series of recommendations, including no police involvement, consultations, and for a new site to have running water, bathrooms and storage.
They ask for seven days to implement these alternatives.
The municipality ordered those staying at the park to leave by July 17th.
