A No Wake Zone, imposed along the shoreline on the U.S side of Rainy Lake, has been lifted.

It was put in place at the end of May and required boaters to reduce speed when travelling near the shoreline to avoid further erosion from the rising lake level.

It was to remain until the end of this week, but the rapid decline of the lake is allowing for early removal.

A similar order along the shoreline of Voyageurs National Park was lifted earlier.

Koochiching County Sheriff Perryn Hedlund says it is still important for boaters to be respectful to property owners and be cautious of debris still in the water.

He says they will also be placing rock markers this week.
