Minor coastal erosion is possible along parts of eastern New Brunswick on Saturday, according to forecasters.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for eastern regions of the province late Friday afternoon.

Forecasters said north- and east-facing coastlines are most at risk during high tide Saturday afternoon or evening.

“Strong northeast winds and low atmospheric pressure will cause higher than normal water levels and rough and pounding surf to coincide with the high tide on Saturday,” said the statement.

Meanwhile, a wind warning has also been issued from much of eastern New Brunswick, from Kent County north to the Acadian Peninsula.

Northeast winds gusting up to 90 kilometres per hour are expected on Saturday afternoon and evening.
