Yarmouth transit service adds Wasoqopa’q First Nation

By Kevin Northup Nov 22, 2024 | 12:09 PM

A new transit option for the Wasoqopa’q First Nation.

The Town of Yarmouth will add a bus stop to the community, making it easier for residents to access shops and businesses.

Mayor Pam Mood says it also prevents people from walking on the airport stretch.

“It’s a busy stretch, it’s dangerous, and it’s within our reach. So we’re going to start stopping at Wasoqopa’q, and both the town and the First Nation are excited about this,” said Mayor Mood.

The town announced they would remove transit fees for the service.

The new stop will be in place on December 9.

In a release, Chief Deborah Robinson says it’s welcome news, and further strengthens the relationship between the First Nation and the town.
