Thunder Bay resident crashes stolen truck in Wawa

A Thunder Bay resident is facing charges after crashing a stolen truck in Wawa.

On Wednesday officers received reports of a stolen truck and trailer in the community.

They later received several calls about the same truck and trailer having crashed into a residence on Toronto Avenue.

Officers arrived a short time later and arrested the driver.

Further investigation revealed that another house and a hydro pole on the same street had also been hit.

The driver was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

As a result, a 40-year-old Thunder Bay resident is facing the following charges:

  • Theft of a motor vehicle
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Theft over $5000
  • Mischief over $5000 – three counts
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Take motor vehicle without consent
  • Careless driving – three counts
  • Driving under suspension – three counts
  • Drive a motor vehicle with no licence

The accused remains in custody with a future court date.
