The cooler weather has arrived, and there’s a need for warmer apparel.

Donations are required for Moncton Headstart’s annual Coats for Kids campaign.

Executive Director Caroline Donnelle says, “Gently used, clean and or new coats or winter gear that people want to drop off. You can drop off at Moncton Headstart during business hours from 8 am to 4 pm or at participating Jean Coutu locations in Greater Moncton.”

She adds they are going to be doing things a little differently this year, for those who are in need of a coat for their child.

On Friday, November 4th, Moncton Headstart will open its doors, from 9 am until noon, and again from 1 pm until 3 pm for those who are in need of a coat.

“You’ll need to show a piece of picture ID, identifying the parent and their current address, and the Medicare cards for the children, and then you’ll be let in to choose a coat,” Donnelle says.

They’ve changed the process, because of a lack of volunteers this year.

Donnelle expects there will be a very long lineup on November 4th, and they will continue handing out coats, snow pants and boots until they run out of supplies.

When making a donation, Donnelle says to consider giving an adolescent-size coat if you have one, because that is the age group they are always lacking in.
