Health unit monitoring several respiratory outbreaks

Thunder Bay’s health unit is monitoring several outbreaks in the district.

Chartwell Thunder Bay Retirement Residence is dealing with a facility-wide unidentified respiratory outbreak, and Southbridge Lakehead is dealing with a facility-wide COVID-19 outbreak.

Southbridge Roseview is dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak in the Heritage Home Area.

The Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre is dealing with two separate outbreaks. An unidentified respiratory outbreak in the forensics area and a COVID-19 outbreak in the Transitional Care Unit.

Pioneer Ridge is also dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak in Home Area 1.

Outside of Thunder Bay, the Geraldton District Hospital is monitoring a respiratory outbreak in the John Owens Evans Long-Term Care area.

Meanwhile, three separate outbreaks at Hogarth Riverview Manor have been declared over.

Outbreaks are declared when respiratory or gastrointestinal symptoms increase among residents.
