You’re going to have to conserve water if you live in St. Peter’s, Samsonville or the surrounding area.
The water utility issued a water conservation order to all its customers, according to a social media post from the Village of St. Peter’s.
“Due to high water flows, hot weather and lack of rain recently, the Water Utility Board feels it is necessary to enact these Water Conservation Directives immediately to ensure that all customers have a reliable supply of water,” the village wrote.
In recent weeks, the utility has asked people to voluntarily conserve water, but with supplies still running low, the order is now mandatory.
To conserve water, the utility asks people to stop watering lawns and decorative gardens, washing cars, pressure washing, filling pools, running sprinklers and other ways people would use excessive water around the house.
However, if some customers don’t follow the conservation order, they could have their water supply cut off until they agree to the conservation directives or until the order is lifted, according to the post.
The village says they’re also working on having water shipped in because their well supply isn’t enough to meet demands.
If people have questions about the directives, the village says they should contact 902-535-2155.
