A suspect is in custody following two break-ins at local businesses in Thunder Bay.

On August 15, city police received a report of a break-in at a business on Carrick Street.

A person had gone into the business and stolen a pickup truck and attached trailer carrying a personal watercraft, driving through the gate to exit the property.

The truck was found heavily damaged later that day and the trailer and watercraft were also recovered.

On Friday, police received reports of a second break-in that occurred at a business on Russell Street overnight.

A suspect had gone into the store stealing another pickup truck and other equipment, damaging a gate during their escape.

Members of the Break and Enter and Robbery Unit became involved in the investigations and determined the same individual was responsible for both incidents.

Officers located and arrested a person matching the suspect’s description, along with the suspected stolen vehicle, later Friday afternoon.

A 42-year-old Iroquois Falls resident is facing the following charges:

• Break and enter to commit an indictable offence x2
• Mischief over $5,000 x2
• Theft of motor vehicle x3
• Theft over $5,000
• Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
• Resisting arrest

The accused appeared in court on Saturday, and they remain in custody pending a future court date.
