New Brunswick’s premier is calling on the federal government to intervene in the railway dispute.

Blaine Higgs says he is very concerned about the impacts of a potential work stoppage at CPKC and CN.

He wants the feds to order binding arbitration to maintain operations while a settlement is finalized.

Higgs adds this would help avoid disruptions that will drive up the cost of living for millions of Canadians.

He says the federal government has an obligation to protect the public interest.
