Efforts to restore a 164-year-old New Brunswick lighthouse are now officially complete.
A grand re-opening was held at Swallowtail Lighthouse on Grand Manan Island last week.
More than $600,000 was raised to restore the lighthouse and light keeper’s house.
Significant water damage and rot were found after the 90-year-old wooden shingles were stripped from the lighthouse.
Officials say the restoration efforts have prepared the building to withstand the next 50 years of weather.
Fundraising began in 2022 and construction has been ongoing for several months.
