School employee in East Hants facing sex charges involving student

By News Aug 15, 2024 | 4:23 PM

An employee with the Chignecto-Central Regional Centre for Education (CCRCE) is facing sex charges involving a student.

East Hants District RCMP say they received a report June 3 about inappropriate contact with a student by a staff member working at Uniacke District School.

The intervention teacher allegedly inappropriately touched a student on multiple occasions in December 2023.

The 35-year-old man worked in several different schools within the CCRCE area employed as a math interventionist.

He was placed on leave in May once initial concerns were made.

He has been released on conditions and will appear in court in October facing these charges:

  • Sexual Interference
  • Sexual Exploitation of a Young Person

East Hants District RCMP is reaching out to offer support and encourage anyone who may be a survivor to come forward by contacting your local police or RCMP Detachment. Police want victims to know that they can contact them and discuss an incident before making a decision to further participate in the investigation and court process. East Hants District RCMP can be contacted at 902-866-7267.
