A portion of Simpson Street is being closed for construction on Friday morning.

During the closure renewal work is being done on underground infrastructure.

Crews will be replacing sewer, water, and stormwater infrastructure and then the roadway will be resurfaced.

The city estimates that the closure will be in place for 10 to 12 weeks.

The section of road being closed is Simpson Street running between Ogden Street and Cameron Street.

Signage will be installed to direct motorists to detours via McKenzie Street and May Street.

Sidewalk access will remain available during the closure, but intermittent closures are possible during some phases of the work.

The city is asking drivers to reduce their speed and drive with extra caution in construction zones.
