Before you pick up that hose, a reminder to ease up on water use in St. Peter’s, Samsonville and area.

The local utility says there’s no conservation order right now, but the warmer, dryer summer weather means high demand and low wells.

Customers are asked to voluntarily restrict water use whenever possible.

The water utility provides the following simple conservation tips:

– Bucket-wash cars or boats, where possible.
-Avoid pressure washing houses, driveways etc.
– Avoid refilling or topping-up swimming pools.
– If you know you have leaking taps, fix them now.
– Flush toilets sparingly and check to make sure your toilets are not leaking.
– Avoid using your bath and cut your shower time down as much as possible, you may also want to consider low flow shower heads.
– Turn taps off when the water is not being used (while cleaning teeth, or scrubbing vegetables, for example).
-Water gardens and lawns less frequently, and when watering do it in the evening or early morning to avoid evaporation.
-Sweep driveways rather than hose them down.
-Let the water utility know if you see anything that might look like a leak.
