Saint John police investigating man’s death as homicide

By Brad Perry Aug 6, 2024 | 9:11 AM

The Saint John Police Force is investigating its first homicide of the year.

Human remains were found in a wooded area off King William Road on Thursday evening.

On Tuesday, police confirmed the remains were those of Allan Lee, 52, of Saint John.

Acting Staff Sgt. Matt Weir said detectives also believe that Lee was the victim of a homicide.

“At this point, police have no information to suggest that there is a risk to the public,” Weir told reporters.

Weir would not release any suspect information, citing the need to protect the ongoing investigation.

The spokesperson would also not confirm the cause of death or where the homicide took place.

Weir said detectives conducted an exhaustive search of the wooded area where the body was located on Friday.

The search involved multiple resources, he said, including police canine units, grid searches and aerial drone surveillance.

“The search of the immediate area where the body was recovered is completed at this time, however, police will still be seen conducting canvasses for video and witnesses,” added Weir.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Saint John Police Force at 506-648-3333 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
