Team Canada is off to the Women’s Baseball World Cup bronze medal game.
Canada defeated the Chinese Taipei team 9-8 in a game that went to an extra inning. Chinese Taipei held an 8-7 lead entering the fifth inning before Canada outscored them 4-0 over the final four innings.
Unlike the MLB the World Cup’s games are seven innings long.
The Chinese team is ranked number two in the world while Canada is ranked seventh, marking an upset on one of women’s baseball’s biggest stages.
Canada is taking on Team Mexico ranked fifth in the world for bronze on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Port Arthur Stadium.
