A new K to 5 Francophone South School in Moncton, now has a name.

It will be called Ecole Claudette Bradshaw.

This comes from suggestions made by the community to help name the 38th school in that district.

Bradshaw was the MP for Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe from 1997 to 2006.   She passed away earlier this year.

“The CED is honoured to pay tribute in this manner to this great lady who cared about the education and well-being of young people, among other things,” said Michel Côté, CED President. “We will always remember her commitment to the less fortunate and her exceptional compassion. Mrs. Bradshaw embodied the values of our school district, and she is now a part of the history of the District scolaire francophone Sud!” He went on to note, “CED members are extremely proud of the creation of this new school, but many facility improvements have been put on hold in recent years and are needed in the DSFS.”

Ecole Claudette Bradshaw will open in 2023 with room for up to 630 students.

“The Conseil d’éducation is honoured to pay tribute in this manner to this great lady who cared about the education and well-being of young people, among other things,” said Michel Côté, CED President. “We will always remember her commitment to the less fortunate and her exceptional compassion. Ecole Claudette Bradshaw will open on McLaughlin Road in Moncton in 2023 with room for up to 630 students.

“Claudette Bradshaw demonstrated exemplary leadership in her community,” said Monique Boudreau, Superintendent of the Francophone South School District. “She was a politician and an advocate for literacy and mental health, among other things. Throughout her career, she earned a special place in the hearts of Acadians. Claudette Bradshaw is an example of perseverance and success for our students.”
