Wastewater infrastructure upgrades for Inverness

By Caitlin Snow Jul 24, 2024 | 12:36 PM

Funding for wastewater infrastructure upgrades in Inverness.

The province and the municipality of the county will each invest more than $2.55 million in the project.

A lift station that handles wastewater from south of James Street and Highway 19 will be replaced.

The province says it will “increase capacity, functionality and efficiency and will ensure the system works during power outages.”

A new backup generator will also be installed.

It is part of the Municipal Capital Growth Program, a one-time $102-million investment in projects across Nova Scotia – a historic provincial investment in municipal infrastructure.

MLA Allan MacMaster says Inverness is getting this investment because it is a growing community.

“This work will make room for new housing and allow businesses to expand when they need to.”
