A slew of facilities and trails in Antigonish County are about to get upgrades, thanks to provincial grants.
The province says the Antigonish Community Food Bank will get $160,000 for more storage space to install a freezer and shelving, to help the nearly 130 families who visit every month.
The Canadian Association for Community Living will get a generator to be a comfort centre during extreme weather events and power outages.
Funding amounts:
– Antigonish Community Food Bank – $160,000
– Municipality of the County of Antigonish – just over $97,000
– Canadian Association for Community Living Antigonish – $50,000
– Festival Antigonish Society – $50,000
– Keppoch Mountain – $50,000
– L’Arche Antigonish – $50,000
– Pomquet Development Society – $50,000
– Songwriters and Storytellers Society – over $49,000
– Town of Antigonish – over $26,000
Other organizations are also receiving provincial grants for upgrades:
– Festival Antigonish Society – enhance electrical system and upgrade fire door
– L’Arche Antigonish – install a generator for a community comfort centre
– Pomquet Development Society – replace wooden shingles and exterior doors
– Songwriters and Storytellers Society – install new vinyl siding, exterior doors and bathroom fixtures
– Keppoch Mountain – rebuild three trails damaged by extreme weather
– the Municipality of the County of Antigonish – develop multi-use pathways to connect existing roadways, sidewalks and trails
– Town of Antigonish – expand and resurface the trail in Arbour Drive Park.
The grants are series of announcement across the province.
