The Rainy River District Detachment once again has a full-time commander.

Greg Given has been serving in the position on an interim basis since last July.

He takes from Shaun Crabbe, who departed to become Superintendent of the OPP’s North West region.

Given has also been promoted from Staff Sergeant to Inspector.

“Greg arrives to the Rainy River District with a wealth of operational experience and continues the detachment’s steadfast focus on community safety through effective law enforcement, collaborative partnerships and crime prevention strategies,” says Crabbe

Given has almost 20 years’ experience with the OPP.

He started his career in 2005 working at the Red Lake detachment.

He has also contributed his expertise to other locations in northwestern Ontario, including Nipigon and Pikangikum.
