Sixty more beds are being added to New Brunswick’s long-term care system.

The province announced plans Thursday for a new nursing home in Oromocto.

“This new facility’s familiarity will certainly help bring a sense of home to the seniors in the area,” Social Development Minister Jill Green said in a news release.

Officials said the nursing home will have four households with 15 residents in each, and everyone will have their own room.

It will be built and operated by Enhanced Living, which already provides long-term care and special care homes in Oromocto and Gagetown.

Enhanced Living, which already has homes in Oromocto and Gagetown, will build and operate the new nursing home.

“This town has become home, and we look forward to continuing our dedication and commitment to local residents,” said Jason Lee, CEO of Enhanced Living.

Construction is expected to begin this year with the home slated to open in April 2026.

New Brunswick currently has 5,163 beds spread out across 75 nursing homes throughout the province.
