The Thunder Bay District Health Unit has declared three new active COVID-19 outbreaks and one unidentified respiratory outbreak.

That brings the district’s outbreak total to six respiratory outbreaks, four of which have been confirmed as Covid-19.

The new COVID-19 outbreaks are located at Hogarth River Manor in the 2 South Bluebell Resident Home Area and 2 North Lavender Resident Home Area, St Joseph’s Hospital in the 2 South Medically Complex Services area, and Southbridge Pinewood on the first floor.

The Geraldton District Hospital is dealing with an unidentified facility-wide respiratory outbreak.

The other ongoing outbreaks are a respiratory outbreak at Chartwell Isabella Retirement Residence (no information has been released on the outbreak location) and a COVID-19 outbreak at The Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre in Unit 1A Acute Oncology.

Outbreaks are declared at a facility when there is a higher-than-average rate of respiratory symptoms among the residents.
