Hearings on what your power bill will look like begin in Halifax on Monday morning.
Nova Scotia Power wants to hike rates by more than 10 per cent over the next few years.
They’ve applied to the province’s utility regulator for approval to do so.
The company wants to raise rates to meet government targets for cleaner energy, while also dealing with an increased demand for power.
The province (and many other groups) oppose the rate increase, but it’s not clear if the government will use legislation to freeze rates if the utilities board approves the hike.
The increase could mean an extra $5 or $10 on your bill each month.
The hearings begin at 9 a.m. before the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board.
