Salvation Army in need of toy donations

By Regis Phillips Dec 12, 2023 | 8:03 AM

With the ever-increasing cost of living, The Salvation Army in Saint John is seeing a greater demand for its Christmas Assistance program.

“With the economy being the way it is, it’s been rather tough for families and individuals to make ends meet at times,” said Salvation Army Lieutenant Jason Brinson.

Over 600 children are being assisted this year, and residents are being asked to donate new unwrapped toys and gifts.

Brinson said the biggest challenge the charity has seen this year is gifts for children aged 10 to 13.

“It’s harder to find toys for those age groups, and so that age group there is a need,” said Brinson.

Residents can donate at the Saint John Headquarters at 36 Waterloo Street from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday.

The deadline to donate is Friday, December 15th.
