Thunder Bay Police officers were dispatched to Eira Avenue just before midnight on November 22, 2023, on a report of a person sitting in the driver’s seat of a running vehicle in a locked compound.

When officers arrived the vehicle proceeded to smash through the locked gates. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but it continued through a second gate and exited the compound causing significant damage. At that point, the officers on the scene discontinued the pursuit of the vehicle.

A few minutes later, another officer located the unoccupied vehicle on the Harbour Expressway. Eventually, the suspect exited the bush area with his hands up and was taken into custody.

A 24-year-old has been charged with: mischief Over $5,000 x2, flight from police, possession of property obtained by crime, impaired operation, and refusal to comply with demand

They appeared in court and were released with a future court date.
